African Mahogany

Khaya ivorensis

Country of origin

Africa

Khaya is a tonewood used in the construction of the neck of all models of Furch guitars. Khaya is also featured in the back and sides of Green, Blue, Violet and Vintage Series guitars. Khaya has excellent acoustic properties, and instruments with khaya back and sides produce a deep projecting sound. It is interesting to note that although it is widely referred to as “African mahogany”, khaya is not a mahogany species despite the fact that its appearance and physical properties are very close to mahogany.
